Ashlee buttons were made in the 1940-50′s or even earlier. The Ashlee Company was the outgrowth of a button manufacturing firm. After passing through several owners, Mrs. Gundlach was in charge during the 1940′s and at that time the firm had converted from button manufacturing to jewelry engraving.
