Bacharach is a town in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rheinland-Pfalz, Southwestern Germany. The original name Baccaracus points to Celtic beginnings. Above the town looms Burg Stahleck, a castle that is nowadays a youth hostel. Bacharach had its first documentary mention in the 11th century.
